Last night was something special.
More than 600 beautiful beating hearts filled the room for Cooper River Indivisible’s first general meeting of the year, and the energy was unreal. New faces. Longtime members. People showing up not out of habit, but out of care and conviction.
We heard from locally impacted speakers whose stories reminded us exactly why this work matters. There were tears, deep breaths, moments of anger, and a whole lot of resolve. That kind of honesty builds real community.
You showed up with generosity too. Our food drive was overflowing, and because of you, that food is going straight back into our community where it is needed most.
And yes, there were churros and cocoa from a local immigrant-owned business, because joy, warmth, and mutual support are part of resistance too.
This meeting was uplifting in the truest sense. A reminder that we are not alone, that people are paying attention, and that when we come together, we are powerful.
We left inspired, a little emotional, and more determined than ever. This is what community looks like. This is how we move forward.
