Learning Spanish Meetup (8/19/25)

On August 19th we had our third learning Spanish meet up run by Edison Robayo. The meetup saw about 20 people come out to continue working on our Spanish Skills. Our main focus today was on numbers. We know how important it might be to be able to understand the people we are helping and there are times where we might be getting a phone number or address and we should be able to understand these numbers when they are spoken to us.

Some tips we got when working through the numbers include the following:

  • Learn the numbers 0 – 15. Once you have this set of numbers committed to memory, you will be able to use that knowledge to understand all the other numbers.
  • Don’t practice the numbers in order. You will be memorizing the order and not actually associating them with the actual numbers.
  • Practice by saying all numbers you run across (license plates, addresses, etc.) in Spanish every day.
  • We all know that cinco is 5 from Cinco de mayo, but we will also see numbers like 15 and 50 being based off “quin”….like in English quintuplets and quintet.
