Local Government Team

Local Government Advisory Committee is a subcommittee of the Democracy & Civil/Equal Rights Committee that was formed after the April CRI meeting.

  • Local leaders learn what the community values from you
  • Decisions are made that impact your day-to-day life
  • Drive policies, spending, quality of life decisions 
  • Keep local government accountable
  • Provide a counterpoint to extremist citizen input
  • Attend township and municipal meetings across counties to observe
  • Review agenda and previous minutes in advance of the meeting. Note: some towns do not post for 1-2 months until the minutes are approved
  • In person, Zoom or YouTube attendance at meetings
  • Document concerns of interest to CRI group (democracy, freedoms, prejudice, elections, immigration, etc.)
  • Join or Comment
  • No prior experience is required
  • You will be given ongoing support via email and monthly meetings
  • Attend local government meetings (Log attendance)
  • Note any concern heard during the meeting
  • Speak during Public Comment if you are interested in participating in your town’s decision-making process (as a resident and not as a rep of Indivisible)
  • Attend ongoing team monthly planned and impromptu support discussions (optional)
