Dying to be Free

Americans have been presented with a choice. To stand together against fascism or to stand apart and watch each other die. And make no mistake, we are dying. We know that. We know that when we wear frog costumes and dance in the streets, we get shot at. We know that when our skin isn’t white and when we have tattoos that we are being sent to some foreign concentration camp without a trial to go and die. We know that we are being executed in the street as we document arrests and called a “fucking bitch” the way every victim of domestic abuse knows the sound of. We know that it’s only getting worse.

In a time like this we must remember what we have always known, that the greatest threat to democracy is allowing democracy to pose no threat at all. We cannot allow our enemies, the enemy to freedom and democracy and the very nature of life itself, to know peace. If we cannot have peace, neither can they. We raise our voices and our fists against tyrants and fascists. We speak to remind them they will never have our silence. We boycott them to disarm them of the money that buys them power over our lives. We flood their offices and blow up their phones so that they cannot escape the needs of the people. And we do so because it is the responsibility of the people to ensure we have an America free of tyranny.

Tyranny is an insult to our nature. To be human is to be free. To be an American is to be free. So you have a choice. Will you allow yourself to be another victim to Trump and his private army? Or will you be free?
