Lobby for the New Jersey Immigrant Trust Act

The NJ Immigrant Trust Act is incredibly important and has been languishing in the state legislature for years. We have a very short period of time to get the act passed during this lame duck session, so it’s an all -hands-on-deck moment across the state.

We need volunteers to go to Trenton together and lobby for this bill. You do not need to have any lobbying experience — nor is an understanding of how the legislature works or the bill itself essential. We will learn together. I’ve only lobbied a few times — and we will be led by a seasoned organizer.

There are organizations that will serve as the lead each day, and we will connect with them. Getting numbers of people is very important — even just to be a presence. And remember: the legislators work for us.

The times for the event say 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., but it is quite possible that the lobbying will only last a few hours. If that happens, we will change our schedule accordingly. We will organize carpooling, too.
