Tree & Pollinator Garden Planting in Oaklyn
Let’s work together to beautify our community and make a positive impact on the environment. No experience is necessary! All ages are welcome but children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. We have extra gardening gloves but feel free to bring your own! Any extra tools may be helpful! We’re starting the morning off with a community-wide tree planting effort followed by replacing an area of grass with a pollinator garden. Come for a little while or stay the entire time!
WHEN: 9am-12pm For the Trees! Meet at 301 W. Clinton Ave., Oaklyn for tree planting directions. 11am-2pm For the Pollinators! Meet at 20 W. Clinton Ave., Oaklyn
WHY: Street trees offer significant environmental, economic, social, and health benefits by absorbing air pollutants and carbon dioxide, reducing stormwater runoff and flooding, providing cooling shade to lower energy costs and mitigate the urban heat-island effect, improving air quality which can reduce respiratory illnesses, increasing property values and fostering community connections, and creating more aesthetically pleasing and calmer streetscapes!
