This Week’s Ask
As we are now in the NJ lame duck session, we are going to spend the next few weeks calling about issues that are part of the “People’s Agenda.” This list was agreed on by 30 organizations that work towards social justice goals in NJ. We have an opportunity to pass key legislation to expand and protect the rights of everyone in NJ. Members of the CRI immigration committee went to Trenton to lobby for the Immigrant Trust Act. We will call in our support.
We are also calling James Beach’s office to let him know that his behavior yesterday was unacceptable. If you missed it, our corrupt NJ Dems are trying to pass a bill that would take investigative powers away from the comptroller’s office. US Senator Andy Kim showed up to testify and NJ Senator James Beach was rude and forced Andy Kim to wait 4 hours to testify, causing him to miss his train to DC to vote on Senate matters. This was done on purpose. James Beach’s behavior was appalling. The comptroller’s office has uncovered several cases of fraud that involve allies of top Dems. This bill is a move to squash oversight and investigation. This legislation is exacting revenge for an office that has found fraud by the power brokers (George Norcross) who control our politicians. As a NJ resident, I want my tax money to be used responsibly. We pay a tremendous amount in taxes. The corrupt power brokers should not be given more opportunities to rake in fraudulent money. We will be calling all of our state legislators to let them know that we value the work the comptroller’s office is doing to uncover fraud in NJ.
If Senator Beach is your representative, let him know how appalled you are by his rudeness during the hearing. And even if he isn’t your representative, he is the head of the Camden County Dems and serves as the chair of the Senate State Government, Wagering, Tourism, and Historic Preservation Committee.
Script (for James Beach’s office):
My name is ______________ and I am a constituent calling from ___________. Good oversight and good public watchdog organizations benefit the public. Senator Beach’s attacks against Senator Andy Kim, AG Matt Platkin, and various others who came to testify on Monday are unacceptable. This is not how we expect our state senators to behave in public office. I support oversight from the comptroller’s office to expose fraud in NJ that wastes our taxpayer dollars.
Script (for all legislators): My name is ________________ and I am a constituent calling from _____________. I am calling to ask _____________ to pass the Immigrant Trust Act. All NJ residents should be able to support their families and participate in their communities without fear. I am counting on ___________ to pass this legislation before the end of the legislative session.
