In the early part of this week (week of 8/11/25), a few members of the Immigration Team’s subcommittee called Resources for Families took time to visit three congressional offices in South Jersey. We went to Senator Kim’s office in Barrington on Monday and then on Tuesday we went to Camden to visit with staffers at the offices of Cory Booker and Donald Norcross.
The primary purpose of these visits was to ask for assistance in helping the families of detainees at Delaney Hall in Newark. In addition to this primary purpose we also wanted to establish contacts with all three offices so that we could work together on issues with which we have common ground with these Congresspeople.
These discussions were all incredibly productive and all members of the subcommittee that attended these meetings felt that real bonds were formed between our group and the people representing us in government. Every staffer that we met with seemed genuinely concerned with the issues that we brought up and they all assured us that they will reach back out to us to let us know how much progress they were able to make on the issues that we brought to them.
